How keyword frequency is calculated

The checker matches words without regard to capitalization and supports Unicode letters and numbers, including accented words. It excludes common English stop words from the ranked list, such as “the” and “and”.

Each percentage is the keyword count divided by the total number of words in the input, including stop words, then rounded to one decimal place. Because stop words are omitted from the table but remain in the denominator, the listed percentages will not necessarily add up to 100%.

Use the results as an editing signal

A frequent word is not automatically a problem. Names, technical terms, and the subject of a page naturally repeat. Read the passage and decide whether repetition sounds useful to people; this checker does not determine search rankings or recommend a target keyword percentage.

  • Review the top terms to spot accidental repetition.
  • Check that frequent terms fit the page’s actual topic.
  • Edit for clarity and usefulness rather than chasing a fixed density.

Know the language limitation

The current stop-word list is English. For text in other languages, common words may appear in the ranked results because they are not in that list. The frequency analysis itself runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't keyword percentages add up to 100%?

Common English stop words are omitted from the ranked list but still included in the total-word denominator, so the displayed keyword percentages may sum to less than 100%.

Does a high keyword percentage improve Google rankings?

This tool only reports frequency; it does not predict rankings. There is no universal target percentage. Write clearly for readers and use terms where they naturally belong.

Does the checker support Portuguese?

It recognizes accented Unicode letters, but its stop-word list is English. Common Portuguese words may therefore appear in the results.
